BanYe Studio

Founded in 2019, Banye Studio is a ceramic practice led by artist Xiao Xiao. Rooted in China’s ceramic tradition, the studio explores the relationship between material, craft, and everyday tea rituals.

Working with Yixing clays such as zisha, zhuni, and duanni, each piece is shaped through a combination of hand-building, carving, and texturing techniques. Traditional processes are layered with contemporary approaches, including slip application, underglaze decoration, and subtle gold detailing.

Balancing restraint with spontaneity, Banye Studio’s work draws from historical forms while embracing a more expressive, material-led language, resulting in objects that feel both grounded and quietly distinctive.
